Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on March 2 with 22 members in attendance. President Mary Bittle opened the meeting with the reading “That Is What I Know.” Buddy Feinauser was given a warm welcome back by the group. Diane Gould was added to the sick list.

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Veteran’s Assistance

Rep. Jamie Barton (R-Berks/Schuylkill) is offering Veterans Assistance Hours each month at his Tamaqua office to provide aid to local veterans. The next service hours will be held on March 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 202 E. Broad St., Tamaqua.

Services for veterans and their dependents include assistance with compensation, pension and death benefits, education and health care, plus other benefits. Veterans do not need a membership with the American Legion to receive these services.

Those interested in scheduling an appointment can contact Barton’s district office at 570-668-1240.

Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on Feb. 28 with 30 members in attendance. Member Diane Gould was added to the sick list.

Election of 2023 officers was held. The oath of office was given by Nancy Godanis. Installed were Robert Neifert, president, Jayne McLaughlin, vice president, Shirley Kaiser, secretary, Gloria Gerhard, treasurer. Nancy Godanis also served the refreshments.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Christ Church, Barnesville at 1 p.m. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Calvary Evangelical

Guest speaker Keith Seigfried will offer the message at the 10:25 a.m. worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and evening praise service at 6:30 p.m.

The Wednesday Lenten service will be held at Calvary with a hymn sing beginning at 7:15 p.m. and service at 7:30 p.m.

Lenten Fish Dinner

The Culinary Crew at Zion Lutheran, Tamaqua, is hosting a Lenten dinner, Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m. or sell-out.

Diners may select from baked haddock, crab cakes or chicken fingers with sides of homemade mac & cheese and coleslaw. Dessert is included. Take outs are available.

American Primitive
