Wind advisory issued for Carbon, Monroe; school delays this morning

A wind advisory is in effect for Carbon and Monroe counties from noon today until 6 a.m. Wednesday, with wind gusts up to 50 mph forecast.

Winds will be from the northwest with a 20 to 30 mph range.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Because of the overnight snow and slick roads, the following schools are operating on two-hour delays this morning.

• Carbon Career and Technical Institute

• Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Unit.

• Colonial Intermediate Unit 20

• East Stroudsburg Area

• Immaculate Conception - Jim Thorpe

• Jim Thorpe Area

• Palmerton Area

• Pleasant Valley

• Pocono Mountain Area

• Stroudsburg Area

• St. John Neumann Regional School

• Bangor Area

• Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg

The Carbon County Community Transit will delay its runs until 9 a.m.
