Several Carbon offices closed today due to water leak

A few Carbon County offices will be closed today as a result of a water issue that caused some problems in one of the buildings overnight.

Commissioner Chris Lukasevich said that due to a water issue in the administration building, the offices that will be closed for the day include tax claim, tax assessment, GIS, the controller’s office and human resources.

“We’re going to close those today so we can assess any issues or problems from the water,” he said Tuesday morning.

The recorder of deeds, treasurer and commissioners’ offices will remain open for business.

Commissioners’ Chairman Wayne Nothstein said that the water issue was not due to the renovation project that began on the administration building on Monday.

He said that a water line broke on a toilet on the third floor and caused the water issue.
