Payments for medical care under the Kerr-Mills medical aid-to-the-aged program totaled $19,117 for Carbon County during January, the State Department of Public Welfare said today.

Carbon countians received $10,617 more in medical aid payments during January than in December, the records show.

The entire $19,117 was paid under the Medical Assistance for the Aged program, comprising $12,953 in 31 payments for inpatient hospital care and $6,164 in 36 payments for public nursing home care.

Under the program, persons 65 and older with an income up to $3,840 are eligible for the care.
