Beaver Meadows church welcomes new pastor

SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Beaver Meadows, welcomed their new pastor, the Rev. Vasyl Chepelskyy, his wife Mariia, daughter Viktoriya, and son Vitaliy on Cheesefare Sunday.

Cheesefare Sunday is another name for Forgiveness Sunday, Feb. 26. For devout Orthodox Christians it is the last day on which dairy products may be consumed until Easter.

The Rev. Vasyl led an afternoon forgiveness vespers, which was followed by an agape meal in the church social hall.

Everyone enjoyed all kinds of delicious homemade foods and desserts before beginning the season of Great Fast the next day.

If you are in search of a new spiritual home, or just visiting the area, we warmly welcome you to join us for our weekend services.

The church is located at 119 Berwick St., Beaver Meadows. Call 570-455-1442.
