A Tamaqua man whose dog got loose and attacked another man and his dog on March 1 was cited by borough police.

Police identified the dog’s owner as Glenn Schmauch, 70, who was charged with a leash law violation.

According to police, officers were called to the 500 block of Schuylkill Avenue at 9:34 p.m. for a report of a dog attack.

The victim told police that he was walking his dog when a large dog ran from a property and attacked him and his dog on the sidewalk.

The victim told police that this was the third time the same dog was free and came after him.

According to police, the victim said that as the dog attacked, he sprayed the dog with pepper spray. Officers said the victim was irate and asked that the dog’s owner be arrested.
