Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Feb. 23 with 23 members in attendance. The meeting was opened by President Mary Bittle.

The group extended a warm welcome to two guests this week.

Money is due on March 2 for the trip to Dutch Way scheduled for March 15.

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex at 1 p.m. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Communion will be served during the service. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

The community Lenten service will be held at Congregational Free Church in McKeansburg at 7:30 p.m. on March 8.

Zion Valley Christian Preschool Open House is planned for Thursday, March 9 from 6-8 p.m.

Andreas VFW

Andreas VFW Post 5069 will meet on March 8 at the West Penn Annex at 6 p.m. Breakfast is scheduled for April 8 at the West Penn Diner on Rt. 443 at 10 a.m. Paid members and one guest are invited.

Calvary Lewistown

Guest speaker Jonathan McCarthy will offer the message at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and evening service at 6:30 p.m.

No Wednesday evening prayer meeting during Lenten season. Lenten service at Calvary on March 15 with hymn sing at 7:15 p.m. and service at 7:30 p.m.

Thrift Sale

Blessings, Zion Lutheran’s thrift ministry, is hosting a one-day winter clothing clearance sale, Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The sale features gently used winter clothing and school uniforms along with general household items, books and toys. A limited take-out kitchen menu is available. Major credit cards and cash are accepted. (No checks.)

Zion Lutheran is located at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets in Tamaqua.

Lenten Fish Dinner

The Culinary Crew at Zion Lutheran, Tamaqua, is hosting a Lenten dinner, March 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. or sell-out. Diners may select from baked haddock, crab cakes or chicken fingers with sides of homemade mac & cheese and cole slaw. Dessert is included. Take outs are available.
