Monroe man with suspended license fled police after traffic stop

A Monroe County man is facing charges after fleeing police in Coolbaugh Township.

At 5:18 a.m. Feb. 15, Pocono Mountain Regional Police conducted a traffic stop in Coolbaugh Township.

Once stopped, the driver, Justin Gaston, 29, of Tobyhanna, fled at a high rate of speed south on Route 196.

The driver traveled into a residential district in Mount Pocono, where police contained him on a dead end road.

Gaston then ran from the vehicle.

Police learned Gaston had his driver’s license suspended because of a DUI.

Gaston was also in possession of marijuana, police said.

Gaston faces charges of fleeing and eluding police, reckless endangerment, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and driving while operating privilege is suspended.

He was released on $20,000 unsecured bail and has a preliminary hearing on March 15 before Magisterial District Judge Danielle Travagline.
