March 1, 1958 - Tamaqua claims the Black Diamond League second-half title by edging Nesquehoning 35-30. The Blue Raiders, coached by Eli Purnell, use a balanced effort to gain the victory. Jack Gozjack, Tony Fredicine and Bill Storch all finish with eight points to lead the winners, while Bill Yelsh also contributes six points. Tamaqua opens the game with a 10-2 run and never loses the lead, although the Warriors close to one point and keep the game close throughout. Nesquehoning’s Eddie Kocha finishes with a game-high 15 points, nine of them coming at the foul line.
