Manufacturing video contest voting opens

Voting is open for the tenth “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing” student video contest.

Student teams from 33 middle schools in Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, and Monroe counties compete in the program, which partners them with local manufacturers to feature the technologies used and products made at those businesses.

The contest was started in 2013 by the Manufacturers Resource Center in the Lehigh Valley.

Several Times News area schools are participating in this year’s contest. They include Panther Valley (B.T.M. Incorporated), L.B. Morris (Fronti Fabrications, Inc.), Weatherly (Hydra-Tech Pumps, LLC), Northern Lehigh (Crayola), Lehighton (TPEI), Palmerton (Ampal, Inc.), and Penn-Kidder (Architectural Polymers).

In 2022, Northern Lehigh took home the “Outstanding Team Spirit” award for their video on Piramal Critical Care, Inc., and Penn-Kidder won “Outstanding Brand Placement” for its B.T.M. Incorporated video.

Student videos can be viewed at www.whatssocool.org and viewers can vote for as many videos as they would like, as often as they would like.

Voting for the “Viewers Choice Award” is open through March 3 at 11:59 p.m.

In addition to the “Viewer’s Choice Award,” student videos will be reviewed by a panel of judges for awards in 10 other categories.

Awards will be presented during an event March 14 at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem starting at 6:45 p.m.
