Lehighton School Board
Lehighton Area School District’s board of directors approved the following items Monday night:
• Acceptance of donations of various food items from Giant for the “Backpack Buddies” program, a piano from Russell Logan for the high school music program, and $220 to be used to support the Title I reading program from Griff’s Ale House.
• A custodial staff uniform rental service agreement renewal with Cintas.
• An intergovernmental agreement for special education services with the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21 for the 2023-24 school year.
• Amending the date tax bills are sent to Aug. 1.
• Payment of bills for February 2023 totaling $3,183,996.61.
• Hiring of Jennifer Farkas, elementary center custodian, at an annual salary of $26,169; Tonia Bastone, high school paraprofessional, at an annual salary of $16,736; and Angie Barry, middle school paraprofessional, at an annual salary of $16,736.
• Dr. Christina Fish to participate with the American Association of School Administrators’ “National Superintendent Certification Program Cohort” from April 2023 to November 2024, for an amount of $4,500.
• Resignations of Catherine Hess, sixth grade learning support teacher, effective March 24; and Desire Morley, custodian, effective March 9.
• First reading of policies on educational research in schools, gifted education, gifted matrix, student services, identification badges and school organization.
• Second reading and approval of policies on federal fiscal compliance, conflict of interest, travel reimbursement, case management, allowability of costs, procurement for federal grants, administration of federal funds, and grant subrecipient monitoring procedures.
• The K-12 school guidance plan for 2023-26.
• The 2023-24 school calendar.
• The resolution determining the official local school district holidays for the 2023-24 school year.
