Palmerton Borough Council received an update Thursday on a Community Development Block Grant project.

Borough Manager Donna McGarry told council that bids for repair work on Railroad Alley have been sent to the county and are out to bid.

McGarry expects the work to be done this summer, and added that the worst sections of the alley will be repaired.

The borough is in the process of taking legal action for a condemned property that is blighted.

In February 2022, she said the borough’s allotment of 2019-2020 CDBG money would go toward the south side of Mauch Chunk Road, while its 2021-2022 CDBG money would be for Railroad Alley.
