Four charged in vehicle theft at Kalahari Resort

Four people from New York, including a juvenile, face charges after they were found inside a stolen vehicle at a Monroe County resort.

At 3:41 p.m. Thursday, Pocono Mountain Regional Police were dispatched to Kalahari Resorts, Tobyhanna Township, for a report of a stolen vehicle located on the property via OnStar GPS.

Officers located the vehicle in the Kalahari Resort and surveillance footage showed that there were four occupants in the vehicle upon its arrival at the resort.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police conducted a canvas of the property and its surrounding areas.

All four suspects, Oscar Colon, 19, of Bellmore; Geovany Reyes-Herrera, 18, of Jamaica; Napoleon Scott, 21, of Queens Village; and a 16-year-old body from Jamaica, New York, were located and apprehended.

During the investigation, Scott gave false information identification.

The adults were committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility.

The juvenile was placed in foster care because of parents/guardians refusing to take custody and no available detention facilities.

The stolen vehicle was brought back to Pocono Mountain Regional Police headquarters.

Charges include receiving stolen property, flight to avoid apprehension, and false ID to law enforcement.

They were arraigned before District Judge Thomas Shiffer.

Colon is incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail; Scott is incarcerated in lieu of $1,000 bail; and Reyes-Herrera is free in lieu of $5,000 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 9.
