Sponsors needed for 2023 Carbon Senior Games

Carbon County seniors, listen up.

It’s time to warm up your throwing arm, shine your putters and dust off your bowling ball.

The 34th annual Carbon County Senior Games is coming.

This year’s games will be held from May 2-10. More details on the schedule of events and signups will be released soon.

For businesses and organizations looking to help the games, the Carbon County Area Agency on Aging, which hosts the event, is looking for sponsors.

According to a letter, sent out by Susan Zeigler, administrator of the agency, the Olympic-style games cost approximately $14,000 to put on for the 200 participants ages 60 and older.

“The success of the event has largely been due to funding from our agency,” Zeigler wrote. “ ...(But) it is becoming a challenge to continue funding the entire event. Some of our equipment needs to be replaced and our fee for competing at some of the venues is increasing.”

With the rising costs of goods, paired with the agency’s need to allocate funds to services for seniors in their homes, the agency is asking local organizations and businesses for help.

Zeigler wrote that any amount is appreciated and sponsors would be showcased in the annual souvenir booklet that is given out to participants.

To send a sponsorship, checks can be made out Carbon County Area Agency on Aging with “2023 Senior Games” in the notes; and mailed to the agency at 401 Delaware Ave., Third Floor, Palmerton, PA 18071 by April 6.

For more information, you can also call the agency at 610-824-7830 or 800-441-1315.
