Pysanky egg making

Folk artist Georgine Postupak-Borchick will teach pysanky egg-making classes at the Schuylkill County Historical Society, 305 N. Centre St., Pottsville, from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 23 and 30. For fee information and reservations, which are required, contact the Society at 570-622-7540.

Book club

The Local Reads book club will meet at the Schuylkill County Historical Society at 6:30 p.m. on March 1, to discuss “The Angel of Ashland: Practicing Compassion and Tempting Fate” by Vincent J. Genovese.

The book is a biography of Dr. Robert Spencer, who performed illegal abortions in the decades before the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision.
