A good policy of hearing both sides of an issue is the best policy. If you attended (Palmerton School District) Feb. 7 board meeting - the budget for next year is under funded. Taxes will be going up. We have students sharing a music teacher between the high school and elementary schools. Music to those students is as important as sports is to others.

The reconstruction of the wrestling facilities is estimated at $375,000. Where will this money come from? The football field will need to be replaced in four years - that estimate is $1,200,000. Where will that money come from - not one cent was put aside for that project. Teachers’ contract is up - where are they going to get the extra money for the new one? First amendment - the right to speak especially if you feel something is wrong.

People need to understand we cannot provide all this money for wish list items. My husband and I are in our 70s and we do not want to be taxed out of our home!
