Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 222 North St., Lehighton, announced its upcoming activities.

Sunday: Morning Worship at 10:45 a.m. Worship service is in-person as well as streamed live. Jr. Church is available for children up to 6th grade. Sunday School, 9:30 a.m. Bethany 101 Membership Class immediately after worship.

Tuesday: Ladies Prayer Group, 10 a.m.; Prayer Meeting, 7 p.m.

Thursday: Men’s Bible Study, 5 a.m.

Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., Lehighton begins at 9:30 a.m. Masks are no longer required, however, if you are not fully vaccinated, you are encouraged to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth for your own protection and safety. In addition, wear a mask if you feel uneasy about being in a group setting. The Rev. Nancy L. Moore presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows in Luther Hall.

Sunday Church School classes for students ages 3 through grade 6 begin at 10:45 a.m. Confirmation class for 7th and 8th grade students is at the same time.

The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday today. Worship with Holy Communion and imposition of ashes on the forehead occurs at 7 p.m. Midweek Lenten worship with the theme “Beneath the Cross of Jesus” begins at 7 p.m. on March 1-29. A simple soup supper begins before each worship at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1-29. All are invited.

In the event of inclement weather leading to cancellations, please check announcements on WFMZ-TV (Channel 69), or Trinity’s Facebook page. Within 2 hours of worship time, a message will be recorded on the office phone number.

For those desiring to schedule a baptism or desiring to seek membership at Trinity, please preregister by calling the church office. Pastor Moore will meet with parents for baptismal instructions on the third Sunday in March at 1 p.m. New member class guidelines will be Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles. The “Souper Bowl of Caring” offering showed the soup pot labeled “Philadelphia Eagles” brought in the highest amount of donations, “I don’t care” in second place, “Kansas City Chiefs” third place. The Pantry received a grand total of $290.11 earlier this month.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours on Wednesdays, limited to five bags or boxes. Trinity’s 150th Anniversary events are Youth-featured worship on the “Annunciation of Our Lord” March 26 at 9:30 a.m., Concert April 16 at 11:15 a.m., anniversary festival worship June 4 at 3 p.m. followed by a catered meal. RSVP for the meal sign up sheet is in narthex. The next planning meeting is March 19 at 12:15 p.m. 150th Anniversary booklets are available in the narthex or the church office for pick up.
