Tamaqua Police Reports

A Tamaqua man was charged with harassment for incidents involving a female resident at an apartment building on East Broad Street in Tamaqua.

Police said Francis Julian Jr., 60, who resides at the building, knocked on the woman’s door around 4 p.m. Jan. 31 for no reason. The woman told police that on multiple recent occasions Julian called her names, blocked her in the hallway and made offensive statements.

• When Tamaqua police took Richard Sutton Jr., 52, into custody on several warrants, they say they found him in possession of illegal drugs.

Police said they went to Sutton’s Biddle Street residence on Feb. 4 to serve a warrant from the Schuylkill County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on fraud charges, and another from the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office for back child support.

Police were allowed into the home and found Sutton in the basement. A search revealed he had a small amount of cannabis and a clear glass smoking pipe with white powder residue. He was taken to the Schuylkill County Prison on the warrants.

He also faces charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

• Tamaqua police said Tyler Trovinger, 22, of Mary D, was driving without a license when he was involved in a hit and run in Tamaqua at 10 p.m. Feb. 7.

According to police, the crash happened at the intersection of West Broad and Swatara streets.

The victim said the driver of the vehicle who struck him - later identified as Trovinger - fled the scene. One of the victim’s friends, however, followed the vehicle and provided police with its license plate number.

Police located the vehicle and noticed damage to its front end. Trovinger admitted to striking the vehicle and driving away.

He was charged with hit and run and driving while his license was suspended.

• Tamaqua police charged Sierra Petrucci, 21, of Tamaqua, with criminal mischief and harassment after a Jan. 7 incident.

Police said a woman reported that Petrucci and her boyfriend, Justin Torres, Hazleton, scratched her vehicle and slashed one of its tires. Damages are estimated at $1,992.

The woman provided surveillance video of the incident, and said she also received a threatening text message from Petrucci.

Torres faces a summary charge of criminal mischief to automobiles, police said.
