Police detail Monroe incidents

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two incidents involving theft and assaults that occurred on the same day at two separate businesses.

On Jan. 21 at 10:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to Bill’s ShopRite in Mount Pocono, for a retail theft.

The suspects had a confrontation with store employees in the parking lot and fled the scene. Before fleeing the scene the suspects removed their registration plate and struck a shopping cart being held by one of the employees.

Officers saw a vehicle traveling northbound on Route 196 matching the vehicle involved at the store and without a registration plate.

When police tried to stop the vehicle the driver fled and then crashed a short distance later on Old Post Road. Danielle Gregory, 30, and Sonia Sykes, 26, both of Bayonne, New Jersey, were taken to the Monroe County Central Booking Center. Skyes was released after booking and Gregory was held for arraignment.

Gregory was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, simple assault, disorderly conduct and retail theft. Sykes was charged with retail theft. Total amount of good taken was $139.23.

The second incident occurred at 1:13 p.m. at the Walmart store in Mount Pocono.

Police were called for a theft incident. While en route police were advised the suspect had loaded a shopping cart with merchandise and attempted to leave the store. When confronted, the suspect attempted to assault the employee. The suspect fled the store without the merchandise. The total value of the merchandise was set at $1,246.18.

A short time later, on a separate incident, police observed a woman matching the description from the Walmart store. Misty Robinson, 43, of Gouldsboro was taken to the county prison and charged with felony 3 retail theft, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
