Busy Sunday

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, has a busy Sunday on its calendar.

Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 8:30 and 10:30 worship services.

Then from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., there will be a family and youth event: indoor volleyball and making sandwiches for the Street@ Feet program for homeless people.

Fellowship breakfast

Effort UMC is hosting a Fellowship Breakfast on Sunday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. It is a freewill donation event, with the proceeds going to the church’s Capitol Improvement Fund.

Prayer Shawl group

Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

New members are welcome.

Mardi Gras event

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold its own version of Mardi Gras from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in McCawley Hall.

Ash Wednesday

Effort Methodist will hold a 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday service and then begin its Lenten services the following Wednesdays, with a different speaker from the congregation speaking live from the pulpit.

There will also be a Children/Youth Lenten program for ages 3 to 18.

McMichaels UMC will have an Ash Wednesday services at 6 p.m. with ashes.

Mt. Eaton Church, Saylorsburg, will hold an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, will have the following services on Ash Wednesday: 8 a.m., Mass and ash distribution; 12:10 p.m., Mass and ash distribution; 4 p.m. Mass and ash distribution; 5:30 p.m. brief service and ash distribution; 7 p.m. and ash distribution.

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran, Kresgeville, will have Ash Wednesday services at 1 and 7 p.m. with the Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion.

Salem UCC, Gilbert, will host the several church joint Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. Pastor Darlene Blocker will be preaching.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effort, is holding an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m.

St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, will hold a 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday service.

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, will again offer Ashes to go at 8 a.m. and at 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the church. There will also be an Ash Wednesday service in the church at 7:30 p.m.

Pantry needs

Effort UMC’s food pantry, The Supplemental Food Resource Center, is asking for donations of canned soups, vegetables and pastas. It will next be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 25.

Soup sale set

Effort UMC has announced its last soup sale for the season. Being offered are Creamy Chicken Corn Chowder and Pasta Fagioli with Sausage.

Orders are being accepted through Feb. 22. Pickup is Feb. 26.
