Coaldale Mayor John Radocha broke a 3-3 tie in favor of a motion to name Dale Sperlbaum to a vacant position on the Coaldale Borough Council during the board’s regular meeting last night.

Sperlbaum succeeds John Tonkin, former police chief who resigned his council post at the start of the meeting because he moved to Hometown.

Council members John Maruschak, Frank DeFebo and Robert Hoben voted in favor of the motion to appoint Sperlbaum to the vacancy while members Claire Remington, Ron Polischak and Clarence Keich voted no, necessitating the mayor’s tie-breaking vote.
