Big Brothers Big Sisters telethon is Feb. 26

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Pennsylvania needs public support for this year’s “Bigger Together” telethon.

For 37 years, BBBS of NEPA, serving 11 counties, including Monroe, has had the support of partners throughout the community, and this year is critically important to continue in the organization’s mission.

This year’s telethon is scheduled for Feb. 26.

It can be seen on Blue Ridge Cable Channel 13 and YouTube from 4 to 8 p.m.

Local mentors will share their experiences having volunteered to help girls and boys throughout the region. The past two years have been challenging in many ways for nonprofit organizations as well as individuals in the community. Every donation, big or small, will help BBBS of NEPA toward its goal for this year’s telethon and proceeds will stay in Monroe County to support mentoring programs for our youth.

“Each year, the funds raised during the telethon are invested in volunteer recruitment, supporting the match between Bigs and Littles and ultimately defend potential of our young ones,” said Michelle Hamilton, executive director of BBBS of NEPA. “At a time when our children need us most, it is our great honor to provide for them mentors and opportunity to change the trajectory of children’s lives.”

Donations are being accepted online at BeABigMonroe.com now or by calling 570-228-2303 the day of the telethon. For every $50 donated, donors will be entered into a raffle to win a $100 basket of gift cards.

Big Brothers Big Sisters ensures that young people have someone in their corner, someone they can turn to during tough times like.

Additionally, an online auction is being held at BiddingOwl.com/BigBrothersBigSistersNEPA.
