The 1801 Burkhardt Moser log home – Tamaqua’s first residence - is undergoing a restoration project that will prepare the site for its central role in the community’s founding bicentennial celebration activities later this year.

The log cabin, at the rear of 307 E. Broad St., is being restored thanks to a $15,000 grant from the Tamaqua Historical Society. In addition, antique furnishings in the cabin were taken to the Tamaqua Area High School Industrial Arts Department, where students will strip the pieces, make repairs and then refinish them.

The interior work is being done in cooperation with local Eagle Scouts and historical society volunteers.
