Blue Raider Foundation receives $500 donation

The Hometown branch of the Hidden River Credit Union recently donated $500 to the Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation.

The Rush Township site received the funds from Hidden River after winning a Christmas decorating contest that was held among all four branches.

Cindy Messerschmidt, branch coordinator, said the branch had a choice of where to donate the money. Since it chose a kid-oriented “Merry Grinch-mas” theme, employees wanted the funds to help area youths.

The Blue Raider Foundation is an independent and nonprofit organization that generates and distributes financial support to enrich and expand the educational experience of students in the Tamaqua Area School District.
