Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Communion will be included at this service. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Women’s Bible study will be held on Monday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall.

Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors met on Jan. 24 with 38 members in attendance. Bill Morrison was given a warm welcome back. Members on the sick list include Edna Romig, Maryann Fisher and Ruth Betz.

Refreshments were donated by Carol Sedlack and Eleanor Schmerfeld. A Valentine basket was donated by Nancy Godanis and was won by Pat Frederick.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at White Church, Barnesville at 1 p.m. Anyone 55 or older is invited to attend.

Calvary Lewistown

Guest speaker Erica Murphy will offer the message at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Special music will be presented by Lindsay Schegan. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Evening service at 6:30 p.m. with Carol Stein.

Prayer and share on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.

Upcoming events include: Souper Sunday - bring cans/boxes/packages of soup to share with folks in need on Sunday, Feb. 12 at the 10:25 a.m. service. Holy Communion will also be celebrated. Feb. 19 service will be a celebration of love and Presidents Day program.

Chili & Boilo Cook-off

American Hose Co. #1 and East End Fire Co. are sponsoring a chili and boilo cook-off on Feb. 25. Tasting and registration packages/special available.

All proceeds will benefit the Carbon/Tamaqua American Cancer Society.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Jan. 26 with 26 members in attendance. President Mary Bittle opened the meeting with the reading “On Being Kind.”

Mary Ann Laughlin, Maryann Fisher, Ruth Betz and Nancy Eisley were added to the sick list. Madelene Hefflefinger and Melody Weicker were given a warm welcome back by the group.

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Andreas VFW Post 5069 will meet on Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. at the West Penn Annex. New; qualified members are now being accepted.
