Tamaqua swept a girls/boys basketball doubleheader against Panther Valley on Friday night.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tamaqua-Panther Vy.

Tamaqua held off Panther Valley for a 51-48 Schuylkill League win.

Lorelei Plasha led the Blue Raiders (6-15) with 18 points, while Sarah Hope added 11. Kolbe Robb and Makayla Bartenope each scored nine points.

Maddison Maynard paced the Panthers (11-10) with 25 points, while Kaidence Krapf scored seven points and added 10 rebounds.

Palmerton rolled to a 43-14 Colonial League win over Salisbury.

Hannah Barry had 13 points for the Bombers (18-3), who led 22-0 after the first quarter and allowed just six field goals in the game. Bethie Morgan added nine points, while Sydney Frantz scored eight.

Hannah Kamp had five points for the Falcons (3-18).

Noah Mateyak’s big game sparked Tamaqua to a 54-40 Schuylkill League win over Panther Valley.

Mateyak hit seven three-pointers and finished with 25 points for the Blue Raiders (9-12, 5-8). Connor Dillon added 14 points.

Thomas Buyce had 11 points and hit three 3s for the Panthers (11-9).

Marian-Weatherly

Marian clinched the Schuylkill League Division 3 championship by rolling past Weatherly, 81-46.

Julius Currie scored a game-high 23 points - 16 of them coming in the first half - to help the Colts win their fifth straight game and improve to 14-7 overall and 11-1 in the league.

Frank Valente added 17 points and seven rebounds for Marian, which will receive a bye into the semifinal round of the league playoffs.

The Wreckers, who received a team-high 15 points from Jordan Mitchell, dropped to 1-18 and 0-12.

A balanced attack helped Palmerton cruise to a 63-29 Colonial League win over Salisbury.

Matt Machalik led three Bombers (16-5) in double figures with 15 points. Brayden Hosier added 14 points, while Chase Reph scored 12 and Zach Anthony added nine for Palmerton, which led 19-0 after the first quarter.

Lucas Graver scored nine points to lead the Falcons (5-16).

Pleasant Valley inched closed to .500 and the postseason with a 49-47 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Stroudsburg.

Jarod Moore scored 23 points for the Bears (9-10), who have two games remaining and have now won two in a row. Sean Hallenbeck added 10 points.

Chasely Lynch scored 15 points for the Mounties (7-14). Byron Moore hit four 3s and added eight of his 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Pine Grove rallied for a 42-39 Schuylkill League victory over Lehighton.

The Cardinals, who trailed by four entering the final period, connected on just one field goal over the final eight minutes, but converted 11 of 14 free throws to pull out the win.

Garrett Brandt led Pine Grove (7-13, 5-8) with 24 points and Brandon Unger added 13 as they combined for 37 of their team’s 42 points.

For Lehighton (8-13, 3-10), Joe Roth’s 21 points led the way.
