Carbon County Friends of Animals events
Carbon County Friends of Animals has a number of things going on at the shelter this month; as well as fundraising and donation opportunities.
The shelter is located at 77 W. 13th St., Jim Thorpe.
Upcoming events
• Faschnacht Day orders are being accepted at the shelter; as well as through CCFOA members. The faschnachts are baked by the Easton Baking Co.
The cost is $10 per dozen of either plain, glazed, powdered sugar, granulated sugar or cinnamon. Checks should be made payable to CCFOA.
Orders are due by Feb. 14 and the delivery is after noon on Feb. 21.
• A spring basket raffle will be held April 28, 29 and 30 at the Orioles Community Center, 475 Orioles Drive, Lehighton. The event will be open Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be several baskets and raffles up for grabs, as well as food items for sale.
Tickets must be purchased at the door.

• The shelter is looking for local business owners who are willing to display and sell Gertrude Hawk candy bars on CCFOA’s behalf.
Current businesses selling these candy bars include Country Clippers and Zimmerman’s Dairy. Proceeds from the sale benefit the shelter.

Ways to help the shelter
In addition to fundraising, the shelter has a number of opportunities to help.
Save receipts from your shopping trips at Jim Thorpe Market and Redner’s Warehouse Market.
The shelter’s wishlist items for the month include new cat carriers, laundry detergent, paper towels, trash bags, volunteers and monetary donations.

Donations can be dropped off at the shelter during business hours.
