Trinity Happenings

First Saturday worship with Holy Communion Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 South 3rd St., Lehighton, begins at 5 p.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Communion is served by continuous line with wafer placed in your open hand, and wine or grape juice in a small cup. Gluten free wafers are available to those with allergy issues.

Masks are no longer required, however, if you are not fully vaccinated, you are encouraged to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth for your own protection and safety. In addition, wear a mask if you feel uneasy about being in a group setting.

The Rev. Nancy L. Moore presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows in Luther Hall.

First Tuesday Quiet Communion is Feb. 7, 11 a.m.

Sunday Church School classes for students ages 3 through grade 6 begin at 10:45 a.m.

For those desiring to schedule a baptism or desiring to seek membership at Trinity, please pre-register by calling the church office. Pastor Moore will meet with parents for baptismal instructions Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. New member class guidelines will be Feb. 26 at 1 p.m.

The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

A “Souper Bowl of Caring” offering will be received Feb. 12. After the worship is completed, volunteers in the narthex will be holding three soup pots. One pot is labeled “Philadelphia Eagles,” one pot “Kansas City Chiefs,” one pot “I Don’t Care.” Please place a monetary donation according to your preference. Donations benefit the Trinity Pantry.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours on Wednesdays, limited to five bags or boxes. An upcoming event to observe Trinity’s 150th anniversary is a family style covered dish dinner with entertainment by “The Amazing Magi” Feb. 4: 1-4 p.m.

Continuing looking ahead to observe Trinity’s 150th Anniversary: Youth-featured worship March 26 at 9:30 a.m., Concert April 16 at 11:15 a.m., anniversary festival worship June 4 at 3 p.m. followed by a catered meal. The next planning meeting is Feb. 19 at 12:15 p.m. 150th Anniversary booklets are available in the narthex or the church office for pick up.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton, will hold worship service at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday with Holy Communion.
