Help for veterans each month in Mahanoy City

MAHANOY CITY - Veterans or their dependents who have issues or questions about what benefits or services they may be eligible for can now schedule an appointment to meet with an American Legion service officer at the legislative offices of state Sen. Dave Argall, R-29, and state Rep. Dane Watro, R-116, in Mahanoy City.

The service officer will assist with applications for VA disability benefits, and provide information, referrals, and resources on education, employment and business, death benefits, and other important topics of interest to veterans.

“Our veterans sacrificed so much to keep the rest of us safe here at home - we need to do everything we can to support them once they return,” Argall said. “I would encourage all veterans in Schuylkill, Carbon, and Luzerne counties to take advantage of the knowledge and expertise of the American Legion’s service officers. I’d like to thank Rep. Watro, who is a proud Army veteran, for suggesting we host these appointments at our offices in Mahanoy City, just as he had previously announced for his Hazleton offices.”

Appointments will be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month, beginning Feb. 28, and will be from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1 West Centre Street, Mahanoy City. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 570-773-0891.
