ESU’s Day of Service to benefit first-time mothers

East Stroudsburg University will hold its ninth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Feb. 21 from 1-3 p.m. in Common Grounds, located inside the University Center.

This year ESU will team up with Nurse-Family Partnership, an organization that empowers first-time mothers to transform their lives and create better futures for themselves and their babies by providing regular visits, care, and support throughout their pregnancy.

This year’s Day of Service is co-sponsored by the Monroe County NAACP.

Donations of new and unused baby items - including diapers, baby bags, wipes, bibs, strollers, cribs, bottles, new clothing, shoes and self-care items for new mothers such as water bottles, face masks, nail polish, candles, bubble baths, blankets, journals, pedicure kits, manicure kits, and teas - can be brought to Common Grounds on the Day of Service. Students will make affirmation cards and magnets for new mothers.

Donations can also be brought to ESU’s Center for Multicultural Affairs and Inclusive Education, 96 Normal Street.

For more information, contact Lyesha Fleming, director of the Center for Multicultural Affairs and Inclusive Education, at 570-422-3869 or email lfleming@esu.edu.
