Palmerton may invest in a generator for its police department.
Borough police Chief Tim Kromer told borough council on Thursday that the lack of one affected the police station after it lost power earlier this month.
“We had a power loss for almost five hours,” Kromer said.
Councilman Kris Hoffner said he doesn’t believe the matter can wait much longer.
“Some of our utility facilities have generators; as you can imagine, generators are important for keeping water and sewer services operating,” Borough Manager Donna McGarry said.
“We do have other buildings without generators; however the police department has a more critical need, and we had not been faced with the severity of it until this recent loss of power for an extended period of time.”
