State police at Lehighton report on incidents

State police at Lehighton reported on the following incidents investigated by troopers.

• On Jan. 15 at 12:29 a.m. troopers were dispatched to Lower Nis Hollow Drive in Mahoning Township, Carbon County, for a report of a drunk and suicidal person trying to break into a room at a residence to get a gun.

On scene the suspect was determined to be a 24-year-old woman from Bridgeport, Montgomery County, who has outstanding warrants and was taken into custody. During the investigation, and while being detained, the woman tried to re-enter the home containing the firearm against police orders. She was then placed in the county prison in Nesquehoning. The investigation is continuing.

• On Jan. 23 at 2:41 p.m. a 40-year-old man from Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County, appeared at the barracks and reported a firearm was stolen from his home. Taken was a Taurus 9mm pistol valued at $400. The gun was taken sometime between Jan. 21 at 10 p.m. and when reported.
