Four placed in special probation program

Four defendants in pending criminal cases were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Tuesday by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

Tayler Nathan Balliet, 24, of Danielsville, was placed for a year on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on June 16, 2021, by Mahoning Township police.

He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment.

Kristina Horn, 44, of Coaldale, was placed for 18 months on a charge of tampering with physical evidence. She was arrested on Sept. 24, 2022, by Lansford police.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to have no contact with the victims, including her daughter, and get a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Mary A. Schaeffer, 65, of Lansford, was placed for a year on a charge of retail theft filed by Mahoning Township police on June 24, 2022.

She was assessed $450.

Erika Nicole Weidner, 25, of Stroudsburg, was placed for a year on a charge of materially false written statement. She was arrested by Mahoning Township police on Feb. 24, 2019, attempting to purchase a firearm when she was prohibited from doing so.

She was assessed $650 and ordered to get a mental health evaluation.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
