A New Tripoli man drove his truck into a Tamaqua property on Dec. 23 then ran away.

According to Tamaqua police, officers located Thomas D. Schiebel, 39, a short time after the 10 p.m. incident.

Officers were dispatched to a report of a hit-and-run at 200 Brown St., and through an investigation, learned that Schiebel drove into the backyard gate at 200 Brown St. His pickup took down support posts for the home’s rear second floor balcony before colliding with a side wall at 202 Brown St.

Police learned that Schiebel fled to a friend’s home. He admitted that he had consumed several alcoholic beverages that evening.

A test revealed he had a 0.17 blood alcohol content. Tamaqua police charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol, hit and run and careless driving.
