The Marian girls officially clinched the Schuylkill League Division 3 title with a victory Monday over Schuylkill Haven.

In other action, the Lehighton girls broke a losing streak, while Palmerton wrestling downed Northern Lehigh.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Marian-Schuylkill Haven

Marian clinched the Schuylkill League Division 3 championship, and secured a berth in the league playoffs with a decisive 61-32 victory over Schuylkill Haven.

Addison Fritz scored six points in the first quarter as the Fillies - winners of 11 straight games - raced to a 15-2 advantage.

Carly Minchhoff ended the contest with a game-high 14 points, including eight in the third frame, while Fritz finished with 12. Marian, now 14-1 overall and 9-0 in the league, also received 10 points from Ashley Pleban.

The Hurricanes, who dropped to 6-9 and 2-7, were led by Karlee Feger’s 13 points.

Lehighton-Tamaqua

Jordan Haley scored a season-high 17 points to help Lehighton defeat Tamaqua 41-27 in Schuylkill League play and snap a six-game losing streak.

Haley, who hadn’t scored in double digits all season, tallied 10 of her points in the opening quarter as the Indians established a lead. The winners used its defense in the final frame, blanking the Blue Raiders to secure the victory.

Olivia Serfass also scored 12 points to aid the Lehighton cause, while Makayla Bartenope paced Tamaqua with eight points.

The Indians are now 5-12 overall, and 3-7 in the league. The Raiders dropped to 4-14 and 1-9.

In the JV game, Lehighton posted a 48-21 win.

Panther Vy.-Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain pulled away from Panther Valley in the second half en route to a 69-37 Schuylkill League victory.

Kylie Conway scored eight of her game-high 18 points in the third quarter as the Eagles extended a nine-point halftime lead to a 24-point bulge heading into the final period.

The winners, now 15-3 overall and 8-2 in the league, also received 13 points from Reese Baldwin.

For the Panthers, Morgan Orsulak finished with a team-high 12 points, while Sera Robin contributed 10.

The loss drops PV to 10-7 and 4-6.

Palmerton-Mount Carmel

Mount Carmel used a strong second half to rally for a 40-35 non-league victory over Palmerton.

The Blue Bombers, who saw their six-game winning streak come to an end, held a six-point halftime lead but were outscored by a 23-12 margin over the final two frames.

Alyssa Reisinger paced the Red Tornadoes (14-2) with a game-high 22 points.

Palmerton (15-2) was led by Hannah Barry’s 15 points, while Beth Morgan added nine.

Palmerton received four pins to help gain a 42-27 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.

The falls were registered by Kellen Trotter (114), Adrian Ortiz (127), Bryce Smith (145) and Jameson Trainer (152).

Foe the Bulldogs, Cody Mazzocca earned a decision win at 121.

Palmerton is now 4-10, while Nolehi is 0-14.

Panther Valley pulled out a narrow 34-32 victory over Williams Valley.

PV’s Derek Lazar led all scorers with 11 points, while Chase McArdle registered six fourth-quarter points to help the Panthers secure the win.

7TH GRADE

Panther Vy.-Williams Vy.

Three Panther Valley players scored in double figures to help gain a 44-34 victory over Williams Valley.

Tyler Hall and Chase McArdle both finished with 12 points for PV, while Cy Maynard contributed 10.

JR. HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL

8TH GRADE

Tamaqua-Pine Grove

Lauren Ligenza scored a game-high 18 points to help Tamaqua gain a 31-19 victory over Pine Grove. The Blue Raiders also received eight points from Millie Black.

Panther Vy.-Williams Vy.

Panther Valley rolled to a 28-8 victory over Williams Valley.

PV received a game-high 10 points from Gjoca, while Kosciolek contributed six.

7TH GRADE

Tamaqua-Pine Grove

Pine Grove edged Tamaqua by a 19-15 score. For the Blue Raiders, Millie Black also finished with 10 points.

Panther Vy.-Williams Vy.

Williams Valley posted a 30-6 victory over Panther Valley.

Rodriguez had four points to lead the Panthers.
