21st annual Freddys

Twenty nine schools in Lehigh and Northampton counties and Warren County, N.J., have been announced as participants in the 2023 Freddys program.

The 21st annual “Freddys Awards Show,” will be held at 7 p.m. on May 25 at the State Theatre Center for the Arts, Easton. It will also be broadcast live on WFMZ-TV and streamed at www.wfmz.com.

The Freddy Awards program recognizes and rewards exceptional accomplishments in the production and performance of musical theater in local high schools.

The three-hour broadcast includes an opening number, performance by nominated musicals, actors and actresses, and presentation of the 2023 Freddy Awards in 23 award categories.

It is estimated that the Freddys program involves more than 2,900 students in the region annually.

The State Theatre’s Freddy Awards is the only high school musical awards program in the United States that produces a live television show.
