A charity headquartered in Tamaqua is once again donating funds to help operate the borough’s pool.
Earlier this week borough council adopted a resolution to accept a $60,000 grant from the John E. Morgan Foundation Inc.
The donation will be used for operation and maintenance expenses at the H.D. Buehler Memorial Pool at Bungalow Park.
Contacted after the meeting, borough Manager Kevin Steigerwalt said it’s not the first time the foundation has contributed toward pool operation and maintenance.
“They’ve been doing this for more than 20 years,” he said.
In an unrelated matter, council approved a mutual aid agreement between the Tamaqua and Rush Township police departments.
“It is pretty much a standard agreement,” Steigerwalt explained.
The agreement would allow officers from either department to request help from the other department.
Tamaqua holds similar agreements with other nearby municipalities, Steigerwalt said.
The resolution has not yet come before the Rush Township Board of Supervisors for its vote.
