Franklin Township Supervisors
Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:
• Accepted the resignation of Edward Zink from the road/garbage crew, effective Jan. 4.
• Agreed to cash out the maturing PLGIT CD (First Capital Bank, Germantown, Tennessee), which will mature on Feb. 9. The maturity value is $249,984.
• Approved the request from the Lehighton Men’s Softball League for use of the Bunker Hill Ballfield for the 2023 season from April through September.
• Approved the Franklin Township Athletic Association’s request to hold its 2023 monthly meetings at the township administration office on the third Sunday of each month on the following dates: Feb. 19, March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, Aug. 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 19 and Dec. 17.
• Advertised bids for 10,000 gallons of low sulfur diesel fuel and 6,000 gallons of heating oil (more or less), escalator clause in effect, with bids to be open at the board’s Feb. 21 meeting.
• Advertised bids for 10,000 gallons (more or less) 87 Octane No/Lead gasoline, at-the-pump price on Feb. 17, escalator clause in effect, with bids to be open at the board’s Feb. 21 meeting.
• Announced that the township is still looking for help to open, close and clean the Phifer’s Pavilion for rental use.
• Announced that Christmas trees may be disposed of at the Phifer’s Ice Dam Park (Penn Street entrance) for Franklin Township residents only until Jan. 31.
• Announced that garbage collection on Feb. 20 (Presidents Day) will be picked up on Feb. 21.
• Announced that the next township board of supervisors meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21.
