SCRANTON - The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that on Jan. 13, Jorgelis Torres-Figueroa, 25, of McAdoo, was sentenced to 70 months in jail for conspiracy to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine.
At his sentencing, U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani also ruled that he will be on three years supervised release after his jail sentence.
According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, from September through November 2018, along with a co-conspirator, Torres-Figueroa distributed approximately 490 grams of methamphetamine at locations in and around Hazleton.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pennsylvania State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffery St John prosecuted the case.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
