Schuylkill crashes

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers in Schuylkill County.

A one-vehicle crash was reported at 4:02 p.m. on Jan. 11 along Valley Road in Walker Township, outside of Tamaqua. Troopers said Derrick S. Wenrich, 50, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2008 Ford F250 truck eastbound when he fell asleep at the wheel. The truck subsequently side swiped a tree before striking a utility pole along the southern shoulder.

Wenrich was not injured and the vehicle had to be towed. He was cited for careless driving.

• A hit-and-run crash was reported on Jan. 7 at 6:20 p.m. along Route 964 in Butler Township. A 16-year-old boy from Wilburton, Columbia County, reported he parked his 2008 Toyota Camry along the north shoulder of the road when he and a passenger, a 16-year-old boy from Ashland, went into the nearby woods chasing a dog. Upon returning they observed damaged to the driver side front door to the Camry.

The victim could not provide any other information.

A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:32 p.m. on Jan. 7 along Creek Road in Union Township. Troopers said Anthony B. Still, 45, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 truck northbound when a deer entered the road. His truck hit the deer and struck the guide rail along the berm.

Still was not injured. The truck was towed.

A one-vehicle crash was reported at 6:10 a.m. on Jan. 12 along Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Peter P. Caparro, 62, of Hazleton, was driving a 2013 Kia Sportage southbound in the left lane when he lost control. The vehicle left the road, traveled down an embankment into the center median where it came to rest.

Caparro was not injured. The vehicle had to be towed. Caparro was cited for the crash.
