Palmerton councilman resigns

A veteran Palmerton councilman has resigned from his post after over a decade of service.

On a 4-0 vote, borough council on Thursday accepted the resignation of Michael Ballard.

Ballard, who has served on council since July 2012, cited health reasons for his resignation.

The borough will accept letters of interest for the position until January 20. Letters should be sent to the borough office.

Whomever is chosen to fill the vacant seat will serve until the end of this year.

Councilmen Richard Nothstein and Cory Kepner were absent.
