Senior Center

The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of Jan. 16-20 is:

Monday: Open Hot Pork Sandwich, Mashed Potatoes, Brussels sprouts, Rice Pudding or Deli Sandwich

Tuesday: Spaghetti and Meatballs, Broccoli and Cauliflower, Diced Pears or Tuna Sandwich

Wednesday: Scrambled Eggs, Potatoes, Pancakes, Fruit Salad or BBQ Chicken Salad

Thursday: Sausage and Peppers on a Roll, Vegetable Blend, Apple Slices or Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Friday: Tomato Soup, Cheeseburger, Potato Wedges, Peaches or Chicken, Ham, and Cheese Sandwich

The center has announced upcoming events until Jan. 20: Balloon Tennis on Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. Po-Keeno on Jan. 16 at 11 a.m.; Birthday Bingo on Jan. 17 at 10:45 a.m.; Games on Jan. 18 at 10:30 a.m.; Drumming Exercise on Jan. 19 at 11; Movie and Popcorn on Jan. 20 at 10 a.m.

PV Golden Agers

The Panther Valley Golden Agers met on Jan. 9 with 13 members in attendance. President Diane Gould opened the meeting with the reading “Thankful Prayer.”

Members were reminded to pay 2023 dues and brown bag lunch until further notice. Meetings are also weather permitting, no school, no meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 23.

Hometown Heroes

The Nesquehoning Veterans Banner program is open for 2023.

If you would like to purchase a banner, applications are available at the VFW Post Home at 300 E. Center St. The deadline to purchase a new banner or renewal is Jan. 13. If you have any questions, call the post home at 570-669-9201 after 1 p.m., or Mary Arieta at 570-669-9350.

Summit Hill heroes banners

The Summit Hill Historical Society has scheduled a pickup date for the Hero Banners on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m.-noon, weather permitting, in the museum located at 1 West Hazard St.
