Auxiliary meeting

The American Legion Auxiliary, from Post 927, is slated to meet tonight as the Legion post home in Gilbert beginning at 7 p.m.

Eldred Planning

The Eldred Township Planning Commission meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 490 Kunkletown Rd. Meetings are being held virtually and in person.

Pizza sale

McMichaels UMC is holding another pizza sale. Orders are due tomorrow and pick-up is before noon on Jan. 21.

Reorganization meeting

Polk Township will hold its re-organization meeting at 8 a.m. tomorrow at the township building in Kresgeville. There will be a general meeting at 7 p.m., Jan. 23.

Soup sale set

Effort UMC is holding another soup sale. Orders are due next Wednesday. Offered are ham & bean and cheeseburger soup.

KoC meeting

The Knights of Columbus meeting at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is slated for 7 p.m. Thursday.

Free meal

The West End Missions will be serving its free meal at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Brodheadsville.

Breakfast served

McMichaels UMC is again hosting a donation-only breakfast Saturday. It will be available from 8 to 10 a.m. They are serving a full breakfast and beverages, too.

Little League

The West End Little League has announced that its first in-person day to drop off the necessary paperwork and payments -if not already done online- is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the PV High School Old Auditorium lobby.

Pantry open

The SFRC (Supplemental Food Resource Center) at Effort UMC will be open from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday.

Race time

A Night at the Races fundraiser, hosted by the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, will be held Saturday in McCawley Hall, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and 10 sealed video races will be opened and run for an evening of fun and excitement.

The proceeds for this event will go toward the March for Life bus. It is an adults event only.

Date changes

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, has announced a date change for two of its happenings.

The Family and Youth Event will be Sunday at 11:15 a.m., not on Jan. 22.

Confirmation Class will be on Jan. 22, at 11:15 a.m., not on Jan. 8.

Prayer Shawl

Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday. Members’ busy fingers can take a break for lunch and thereafter continue their unique outreach work until about 1:30 p.m.

VALOR Support

A VALOR-sponsored PTSD Support Group monthly meeting will take place at 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the American Legion in Gilbert. This meeting is open to anyone. One does not need to be a Post 927 member to attend. Guests are welcome.

Effort UMC is seeking an organist in light of one of the church organists leaving for the 11 a.m. service

Free dinner set

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, is hosting another free drive-through community dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. next Wednesday.

Churches gather

On Jan. 19, churches which started the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network will gather at Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Brodheadsville for a service at 10:30 a.m. during the Week for Christian Unity. The church will provide a luncheon after the worship service.

Stories will be shared by volunteers who work to distribute food and clothing of how their volunteer work has impacted their faith life according to Pastor Suzanne from St. Matthew’s UCC.
