Dr. Brendon Weaver of Weaver Eye Care Associates purchased Dr. Marlon Burt’s optometry practice, Berkleigh Eye Care located at 93 Constitution Blvd. in Kutztown on Dec. 29, 2022.

“Dr. Burt reached out to me one day, asking if I was interested in buying his optometry practice,” Weaver said. “After a couple of months of conversations, we reached an agreement that I would take over his practice in Kutztown.”

Berkleigh Eye Care began on Main Street in Kutztown in 1963 by Dr. Joel Weinman. It was opened as a general optometry practice, providing primary eye care, contact lenses, and eyeglasses. Dr. Marlon Burt purchased the practice in 2005 and moved the practice to the current location at 93 Constitution Blvd, next to Dr. Michael Steven’s podiatrist practice in 2011.

Weaver is a 1995 high school graduate of Palmerton Area High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at Elizabethtown College in 1999, majoring in biology with a minor in Chemistry. After graduating from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Mass., with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2003, he returned to Pennsylvania and worked at Berks Eye Care Physicians & Surgeons in Wyomissing from 2004 until 2010. In 2011, he opened his own practice, Weaver Eye Care Associates in Bernville.

Dr. Weaver will provide routine, medical, and emergency eye care, as well as contact lens fittings and dry eye management at his new Kutztown location. The optical department offers over 500 eyeglasses and sunglasses from which to choose. The practice also sells contact lenses.

Weaver started seeing patients at his new Kutztown office this week.
