St. Luke’s wants permission to demolish Tamaqua duplex

The Tamaqua Planning Commission will meet Monday to review St. Luke’s University Health Network’s plans to raze a structure on the 600 block of Pine Street.

St. Luke’s wants to build a one-story, 3,062 square-foot behavioral health medical office on the site, according to an application submitted to the commission.

Planners will review St. Luke’s sketch plan to demolish the duplex home at 600-602 Pine St., which is Route 309 North. The plan also calls for combining the property with an adjoining one at 0 Pine St. to create a single parcel.

The land measures about 0.24 acres and would house the medical office, parking for 16 vehicles and accessory features.

The property is in a highway commercial zoning district.

According to Schuylkill County property records, 0 and 600-602 Pine St. are owned by the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St.

Carbon-Schuylkill Community Hospitals Inc., doing business as St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus, is looking to demolish this duplex at 600-602 Pine St. to make way for medical offices.
