State police at Lehighton — crashes

State police at Lehighton released details on crashes:

• Ryan M. McCutcheon, 20, of Walnutport, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 9:20 p.m. Dec. 12 on Blue Mountain Drive in Lower Towamensing Township.

Police said he was driving a 2000 Mercury when he attempted to negotiate a right-hand curve on the wet surface. Police said the car lost traction, traveled off the right side of the road and struck a culvert.

He was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.

• Cory J. Henning, 21, of Effort, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 5:23 p.m. Dec. 12 on Route 209 in Polk Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2012 Ford Escape southbound when it left the roadway and struck a mailbox, then continuing off the roadway where it struck a flower-bed wall, coming to rest on top of the wall.

• Mark A. Salles, 55, of Lehighton, escaped injuries when the tire on his car blew out in an incident at 3:22 p.m. Dec. 13 on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township.

Police said he was westbound in a 2003 Honda Civic when the left front tire blew out. He attempted to pull over, but the vehicle struck a dead tree that was lying on the ground.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Shaun A. Parsons, 32, of Palmerton, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 10:39 a.m. Dec. 11 on Summer Mountain Road in Towamensing Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said he was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado northbound and was traveling downhill during wet/snow conditions when the vehicle lost traction, proceeded across both lanes and struck a ditch and fence.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police said Parsons was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• Evan Luisi, 21, of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 9:48 p.m. Dec. 18 on Lehigh Drive (Route 248) in Lehigh Township.

Police said he was driving a 2016 Hyundai Veloster westbound when he failed to negotiate a turn and the car struck a metal guard rail, continuing about 30 feet before coming to rest.

Police said the vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

• Police said a delivery truck backed into a camera wire hanging from a building to a utility pole during an incident at 2:20 a.m. Nov. 7 on Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township.

Police said the vehicle pulled into a parking lot at 1035 Little Gap Road, facing the wrong direction and attempted to make a turnaround. The truck backed into the camera wire, breaking it. Police said the driver continued to make the turnaround and delivery and left the scene.

• A New Jersey man escaped injuries in a crash at 12:48 p.m. Dec. 22 on Fiddletown Road in Eldred Township.

Police said they were summoned there for a “rollover crash.”

They said Daiquan D. Ford, 27, of Newark, was driving a 2008 Dodge Sprinter that was involved in the crash.

He was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.

• James E. Beck, 36, of Jim Thorpe, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 12:34 p.m. Dec. 19 on Hatchery Road in Penn Forest Township.

Police said he was driving a 2016 Hyundai Veloster west when it struck a pothole in the roadway, causing the steering to be disabled and flattening a tire.

Police said Beck tried to bring the vehicle to a stop on the north shoulder of the road but he was unaware of the concrete drain culvert hidden by snow. The vehicle traveled onto the shoulder and struck the culvert.

Police said the vehicle was towed from the scene.
