December 24, 2007 - Tamaqua’s Chris Hummel is named the Times News Boys Soccer Player of the Year. The senior, who moved to defense during his sophomore season, helps the Blue Raiders win a Schuylkill League championship and post a 19-4-1 record. Hummel, who finishes with 30 assists and seven goals in his career, earns All-State honors. “I’m more a defensive-minded coach and I have a tendency to put my better players on defense,” said Raider coach Joe Holmberg. “We used Chris (on defense) because of his knowledge of the game and his ability to control the ball.”
