Official: Be nice to our workers

A Nesquehoning official is reminding residents that even though snow events cause headaches, it isn’t right to come into the office and berate the borough office workers.

On Wednesday, Councilman Louie Paul said that with the last storm, there were people yelling at the workers.

“Snow is a pain for everybody,” he said. “I don’t want people coming in the office and abusing our office workers, screaming in their faces. They’re not driving the trucks.”

He said that while he heard only a few complaints with the last storm, problems like this should never happen.

Paul outlined how the borough plows streets, with the middle being cleared during the storm to provide driving lanes. Once the storm is over, then snow parking ordinances go into effect and the plows begin curb to curb plowing.

One main complaint, Paul said was about getting plowed in after clearing the sidewalk or driveway. His recommendation is to wait until the plows go by after the storm and then clear that part of your property.

“Some people are out there right away and then they (plow drivers) come back and plow their driveways in,” Paul said.

He stressed that people abusing borough workers and office staff will not be tolerated.

Council also commended the communication between the office, plow drivers, police, mayor and council during the last storm.
