Monroe commissioners approve several agreements

The Monroe County commissioners approved several contracts and financial transactions at their meeting on Wednesday morning.

Chairman Sharon Laverdure asked if there was any discussion before voting, but vice chairman John Moyer and commissioner John Christy did not have anything to say about each topic.

The supervisors approved entering into a service agreement with Merakey Pennsylvania for a maximum amount of $500,000 from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. Merakey provides several services including: addiction recovery, adult behavioral health, autism, intellectual and development disability, veterans’ assistance, children and family, foster care, aging and pharmacy. The commissioners did not say if the county is purchasing access to all or some of the services.

The commissioners also approved professional service agreements for the period from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2022 from Children’s Choice Inc. for $200,000; Pinebrook Family Answers for $30,000; and Pentz Run Youth Services Inc. for $145,000.

The financial transactions that were approved include:

• Vouchers - $2.3 million for the week ending Dec. 9; and $1.4 million for the week ending Dec. 16.

• Gross payroll - $1.4 million for the week ending Dec. 4.

• Health care benefits payments - Highmark Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, $45,783.62 on Dec. 6; Geisinger, $51,138.34 on Dec. 6 and $248,373 on Dec. 13; dental claims, $6,405.08 on Dec. 9; flexible spending account, $1,328.39 on Dec. 9.

Construction

As for ongoing construction projects, the commissioners approved change orders to the Courthouse Renovation Expansion Project. These include an additional $29,883.69 to Lobar Construction Inc. and an additional $58,129.21 to LTS Plumbing and Heating Inc.

The other change order was for the Ramsey School Project for electrical services. This was an additional $17,792 to George J. Hayden Inc.

The commissioners are also seeking to create an agreement with Borton Lawson Engineering Inc. to provide engineering services for the county bridge maintenance projects in 2023. The agreement would be for $20,000.
