Lansford man sentenced in robbery case

A Lansford man was sentenced for his part in a home invasion robbery in Montgomery County that involved restraining three people and threatening them with a gun.

Devon Malcom Williams, 33, of the 400 block of West Patterson Street, was sentenced before Judge Wendy G. Rothstein this week. He will serve 13 to 26 years in a state correctional facility on multiple charges. He must also pay $8,586 in restitution. Williams was convicted by a jury in July. He was convicted under an accomplice liability theory.

Two others have also been charged in the crime. Annette Bowen, 58, of Lansford, was sentenced to three to six years in prison earlier this year. Charles “Cheese” Williams, 58, of Philadelphia, who was also charged, is awaiting trial.

The robbery occurred on Jan. 16, 2021.

Pottstown police were called to a home along North Charlotte Street for a reported home invasion.

When they arrived, police spoke with the three victims, which included a 76-year-old man and two of his friends. The victims said that three people entered the home carrying a handgun, knife or Taser.

Two of the victims were bound with tape, while the homeowner was led to a safe by gunpoint.

The trio took multiple antiques, as well as cash and the other belongings.

As they were leaving, one of the victims recognized Bowen, who used to live in the Pottstown area.

Surveillance footage also helped in identifying the suspects, which led to a search at the Lansford residence.

Multiple items from the robbery were recovered.
